Spring Place Baptist Church in Chatsworth, Georgia made a generous contribution towards the construction of the Danny E. Watters Village to be located on the university’s campus.

The late Rev. Danny E. Watters pastored Spring Place Baptist Church from 1973-1983 and served in the Georgia Baptist Church Ministry Relations department of the Georgia Baptist Convention before passing away in April 2015. His service impacted the lives of hundreds of churches and vocational ministers.

TMU President Dr. Emir Caner’s vision for the Danny E. Watters Village is to provide a place of rest and renewal for pastors and vocational ministers who need time away from the challenges of local church ministries.

“We will never have strong schools until we have strong churches,” said Caner.

The Village has raised $112,000 for plans which include six fully furnished cottages on the campus of TMU.

“It is with deep gratitude to the Spring Place Baptist Church for their gift (along with so many gifts given), that we will prayerfully see construction beginning for this strategic and timely ministry for those who serve in churches and ministries all over Georgia,” said Dr. David Drake, Director of Alumni and Church Relations and liaison for the Danny E. Watters Village project.
