Truett McConnell University (TMU) was recently ranked among the most affordable online bachelor’s degree programs in both religious studies and theology for 2019 by Great Value Colleges.

“Theological education is not simply the impartation of knowledge,” said Dr. Maël Disseau, Dean of The Balthasar Hubmaier School of Theology and Missions. “It’s not about a grade or a degree, but spiritual growth and discipleship. Our small class environment (both on-campus and online), our highly credentialed faculty (both on-campus and online), and our passion for the Word of God over the wisdom of men, make the Hubmaier School of Theology and Missions a great incubator for theological growth in our students.”

To be considered for this ranking, schools must have tuition costs of less than $20,000 a year and are ranked based on the following categories: tuition, student-to-faculty ratio, Return on Investment (ROI), flexibility of the online program, online student support network, concentrations/specializations, accreditation, and “wow” factor.

To rate and rank these programs, Great Value Colleges used a point system based on the above categories, using information from Google, the National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES), Payscale.com, and each program’s website.

“At TMU, we offer convenience and flexibility through a growing list of online degree programs,” says Dr. Emir Caner, TMU President. “Taught from a Christian worldview, each course examines and emphasizes its content through the lens of Scripture.”

TMU offers an affordable online degree in religious studies that results in a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies. Four concentrations are available in the following fields: biblical and theological studies, student ministry, women’s studies, and missions. Each of these concentrations designed to prepare students who wish to enter into full-time or part-time vocational Christian ministry positions.

Graduates of this program can go on to become pastors, ministers of education, ministers of youth, Christian counselors, missionaries, and more. Students can expect major coursework like: Hermeneutics, Old Testament Studies, New Testament Studies, History of Christianity, Apologetics, World Religions, and Biblical Exposition. For students wishing to continue their studies, the online school also offers a Master of Theology degree program.

“We are proud to offer our students an affordable, meaningful, Christ-centered education in the way that works best for them and their family,” said Caner.

According to their website, Great Value Colleges assists students in finding the best degree, school, career options, and resources for a chosen degree and career.
