Truett McConnell University (TMU) congratulates The Pilgram Marpeck School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), with their establishment of the Women in Science scholarship which received recognition by Congressman Doug Collins.

“Today, I received a package from Representative Doug Collins of the 9th Congressional District of Georgia,” said Dr. Robert Bowen, Dean of TMU’s School of STEM. “On October 23, 2018, Rep. Collins recognized the Women in Science Scholarship on the floor of the House.”

The School of STEM along with the Office of Advancement have raised close to $3,000 to fund the Women in Science Scholarship for those majoring in biology or exercise science. “This scholarship fund is a great way for us to continue to support our phenomenal female students as they pursue excellence in research and scholarship,” said Bowen.

To date, the scholarship has already helped students attend conferences in order to present scientific research, enrich presentation skills, and enhances their professional network for future careers.

“I celebrate this new opportunity for women in Northeast Georgia and wish the recipients success along their academic journey,” stated Rep. Collins in the Congressional Record.
