Dr. Kimberly Maiocco

This fall, Truett McConnell University (TMU) hired Dr. Kimberly Maiocco as the New Dean of the Hans Hutt School of Business. Dr. Maiocco has more than 25 years of experience in Christian education and holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Florida Institute of Technology, a Master of Education, a Doctor of Business Administration, and a Master of Applied Psychology from Liberty University.

Dr. Maiocco’s Journey at TMU

Maiocco first learned of TMU while serving as the Head of School at Johnson Ferry Christian Academy, which partnered with TMU’s dual enrollment program. In 2015, Maiocco joined the TMU family as an online professor.

Since then, she has taught a myriad of undergraduate courses such as Marketing and Managerial Accounting. Her focus in the last several years, however, has shifted to teaching graduate courses such as 21st Century Marketing, Environment of Human Resource Management, and Strategies of Brand Management for TMU’s M.B.A. program.

A Life-Long Learner

Maiocco decided to return to school to pursue a doctorate when her youngest child became a senior in high school. However, she loved online learning so much that after she completed her doctorate, she followed her second passion—psychometric assessments—and earned a Master’s degree in Applied Psychology. The new Dean said, “Online learning provided the flexibility I needed as a learner. At some point in the future, I would like to return to school.”

In addition to her academic degrees, Maiocco is a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach and an MBTI Certified Practitioner. She connects these strength-assessing programs to Ephesians 2:10, which reads, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (NKJV). Using her knowledge from these certifications, she has written a college course that will encourage others to walk in their God-given strengths.

Maiocco said, “It is meaningful to recognize how God has wired you and to operate in these gifts. It is also important to encourage the body of Christ by helping others to better understand their personality, strengths, and spiritual giftedness and how they can use these for God’s glory.”

Providing a Biblically Centered Education

Maiocco values an education that is rooted in the Word of God and hopes to equip students with a degree that will not only enable them to thrive in the world of business, but will also equip them to show the character of Christ in the workplace. She said, “TMU is unique in that it strives to integrate a biblical worldview with education. Many colleges provide an education, but few integrate it with God’s word. “

The educator also noted that college students are very moldable and face many important decisions during their time in school. As the new Dean of the School of Business, Maiocco seeks to help college students make decisions that will benefit themselves and the kingdom of God.

Dr. Maiocco said, “I am excited to serve the Lord in this new capacity and I am praying for growth in the traditional and online programs.”
