CLEVELAND, Ga. (TMCNews) — More than 1,500 people attended Truett-McConnell College’s annual Treats at Truett event Oct. 31, including a candy-hungry menagerie of pint-sized aliens, ghosts, ninjas, princesses, monsters and other creepy critters with their human parents in tow.
The Halloween alternative for White County children featured a puppet show presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ, trick-or-treating, face painting, carnival games, a hayride, and a castle adventure, as well as hot chocolate, s’mores, and candy — lots of candy.
“This was Truett-McConnell’s opportunity to do something for the Cleveland community,” said Jonathan Morris, director of student life. “The students not only gave of their time, but some gave their resources, too.”
“We gave the community something for free that people could enjoy for a little while, but we also offered something of eternal significance as well,” Morris added, referring to the Gospel-oriented puppet show and the Bible verses regarding salvation printed in the event’s brochure/guide.
“If we didn’t do that, I don’t think we would be Truett-McConnell,” added Andrew Gailey, director of student relations and event organizer.
