According to the CrimeSceneInvestigatorEDU.org 2020-21 most affordable list, Truett McConnell University (TMU) ranks as one of the most affordable bachelor’s programs in Crime Scene Investigation and Forensic Science in the nation. With only five universities in the state of Georgia on the list, TMU was the only private institution to be awarded the ranking.

“The B.S. in Criminal Justice is one of our newest degree programs, which was first offered in August of 2016. Yet, in record time, the diligent efforts of The Michael Sattler School of Public Service faculty have elevated the program to national notoriety,” said TMU President Dr. Emir Caner.

According to their website, rankings were based on the most affordable, high-quality, accredited schools. This involved a full tuition analysis of more than 360 four-year public and private colleges and universities throughout the U.S. chose schools regionally accredited that offer at least one fully online degree in a given subject for the degree level of the list. Program data included available degrees, tuition rates, and details about program coursework collected from official school websites.

“I’m certainly thrilled the collaborative effort between the Michael Sattler School of Public Service and the Pilgram Marpeck School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics to create a relevant degree gained attention as one of the most affordable degrees,” said J. Marie Griffin-Taylor, Dean of The Michael Sattler School of Public Service and Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice.

Most law enforcement agencies and forensic laboratories expect job candidates will hold an associate’s or bachelor’s degree, with the most relevant areas of study being in forensic science and crime scene investigations. A criminal justice degree with a concentration in forensics or crime scene investigations provides a course of study that covers three critical areas: forensic science, technology, and law enforcement.

“Affordability matters,” Griffin-Taylor said, “so this recognition, along with the effort to provide exceptional quality of instruction, is exciting for our current and future students.
