CLEVELAND, Ga. – Truett McConnell University is pleased to announce the grand opening of its newly constructed George Blaurock Student Wellness Center (SWC), a 69,000-sq. ft. state-of-the-art building, on Saturday, August 19.

The Student Wellness Center will offer several opportunities for our students, faculty and staff to develop a stronger community within the university,” said Nate Bowen, Campus Recreation Coordinator for the SWC.

While the center will provide a place of leisure within the campus, it will also uphold its name by promoting wellness and nutrition through an array of comprehensive and integrated wellness options.

“The SWC has so much potential for new activities, tournaments, fitness classes and designated areas for our students to relax and build new relationships,” Bowen added.

“I’m excited about having a new place to hang out,” said Maggie Reeves, who is a junior and World Missions major at TMU. “I’ll be able to study, grab a bite to eat and work out all in one location.”

Although students are the primary members of this facility, the SWC will also be made available to alumni, visitors and community members through a variety of membership options, promoting wellness to all of our constituents.

Members will have access to all SWC amenities, which include a walking track, fitness center, leisure pool, two racquetball courts, three full-sized basketball courts and an aerobics classroom offering an array of classes including circuit training, yoga, R.I.P.P.E.D., cardio dance and low impact cardio.

Dr. Gary Jarnagin, TMU Director of Financial Development said, “The Cleveland and White County community will benefit and enjoy God’s blessing in the amenities of the Student Wellness Center through community memberships.”

“Perhaps most importantly,” Jarnagin added, “the community will be able to interact and build relationships with our fantastic students, faculty and staff.”

Hours of operation for the wellness center, beginning August 21, are 6 a.m. until midnight weekdays, 9 a.m. until midnight on Saturdays and 3 p.m. until midnight on Sundays.

Membership prices will range according to constituent type and level of access, and a full list of prices are available at truett.edu/swcmemberships. Anyone interested in learning more about membership packages should plan to visit and tour the SWC on Saturday, August 19, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. or contact Nate Bowen at tmuwellness@truett.edu or 706-865-2134, ext. 4105.
