Cleveland, GA On Friday, November 14, Truett McConnell University celebrated official installation into the Delta Mu Delta Honor Society and honored the diligence and dedication of seventeen students in the Hans Hut School of Business. Students received a lifetime membership into Delta Mu Delta, one of the highest honors a School of Business student can receive. The membership serves as a recognizable badge of honor as students pursue meaningful careers on the path that God is calling them to while also celebrating their academic achievements.

Delta Mu Delta is an international honor society founded in 1913 to recognize and encourage academic excellence in business education, from undergraduate to doctoral levels. Being part of Delta Mu Delta sets Truett McConnell University apart, as only Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) institutions are eligible. The Hans Hut School of Business will annually induct the top 20% of students into the honor society.

“The installation of the new chapter marks an important milestone for the Hans Hut School of Business, confirming that our various degree programs meet the highest standards of business education on an international level!” stated Dr. Jordan Turner, assistant professor of business.

The ceremony opened with a word of welcome from Dr. Jordan Turner, who introduced Delta Mu Delta representative Dr. Cynthia Solari, Executive Program Director for Colorado Tech University’s College of Business and Management. Dr. Solari gave an address, formally installing TMU’s chapter of Delta Mu Delta. TMU’s inaugural chapter of the organization included the induction of four honorary members – Dr. Jordan Turner, Dr. Kimberly Maiocco, Dr. Gary Fangmann, and Dr. Austin Hinton.

Interim President Dr. John Yarbrough shared a brief message of pride in the students before him and a word of congratulations from the school, followed by Dr. Kimberly Maiocco, Dean of the College of Professional Studies. She reminded students of Paul’s call in Colossians 3:23, which states: “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” (ESV)

“Working as unto the Lord requires excellence when no one else is watching,” Dr. Maiocco shared. “Love God, love people, and do what is right.”

Membership in Delta Mu Delta will network TMU students with over 150,000 members who share a passion for excellence and continuing education. Connection with like-minded peers provides opportunity to foster friendships, and Delta Mu Delta offers a number of social events to provide opportunities for engagement.
