CLEVELAND, GA – “This chapel is your chapel. Every Tuesday you come here to be encouraged. Today, you are the encourager!” announced Dr. Brad Reynolds, Vice President for Academic Services, as he welcomed students, faculty, family and friends to Truett McConnell University’s (TMU) annual Honors Chapel.
Each year, TMU faculty have the opportunity to recognize students who have gone above and beyond in academics and leadership.
Dr. Emir Caner, President of TMU, explained the importance of honor students and academics. “Salvation comes by grace. Graduation comes by works.” He elaborated on how all of the professors and faculty pray for the best of every student. “Ephesians 2:10 says this: ‘For we are his workmanship’. The word workmanship is where we get the word poem. You are the Lord’s poem. You are an artistic piece of God.”
He continued: “Some of your friends have gone off to secular universities and the canvas to which they are painting is not what God wills, but what they will. They may be chasing after the pleasures of life and success, but you have chosen the canvas where God draws upon your life and your heart, and it will be His will and His Way.”
