As the spring semester begins to wrap up at Truett McConnell University (TMU), exciting news for the Hans Hut School of Business as the university has officially been recognized as a member of the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

Founded in 1988, the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) is a global business education accrediting body and the only organization to offer accreditation to all levels of business educational degree programs from associate to doctoral.

The council’s mission is to promote continuous improvement and recognizes excellence in the accreditation of business education programs around the world. Currently, ACBSP has been present in more than 1,200 campuses in 60 countries.

ACBSP

As a non-profit global organization specialized in the improvement and development of educational quality management, ACBSP has particularly strict and serious requirements on the participation of its members.

For institutions located within the United States, regional accreditation of the institution is required for membership and accreditation eligibility. Truett McConnell University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

Dr. Kimberly Maiocco, Dean of The Hans Hut School of Business, explained that the next step in the process TMU will take is to become a candidate for accreditation. “If all goes well,” she explained, “this will include our 2022-2023 graduates who will be grandfathered in once we receive official accredited status.”

Maiocco added that ACBSP accreditation offers resources, best practices, and connections with member colleagues that will benefit students and the university. “The new membership with ACBSP,” she said, “will hold Truett McConnell to a higher accountability and provide distinction to our graduates.”
