CLEVELAND, Ga., (TMNews) –Truett-McConnell College was ranked 14th by Affordable Colleges Online as one of the nation’s best online accounting degree programs for 2014-15. TMC is the only school in Georgia named to the list and is grouped with schools like Auburn University and the University of Minnesota.

“It is always nice to be recognized, but this is an especially nice acknowledgment because we are such a young program,” Dr. Joseph Wiegand, Truett-McConnell’s Associate Vice President for Academics, said. “This speaks to the quality of our program as well as the dedication of our faculty, staff, and students. We are a young program and it is very nice to be recognized by a national organization such as Affordable Colleges Online.”

Truett-McConnell received a score of 96.65 from Affordable Colleges Online and is applauded for the functionality of the accounting programs fully-online degree, its flexibility, and the design of the online course program itself.

Affordable Colleges Online ranks each school based on a number of detailed criteria, including: student faculty ratio, six year graduation rate, percentage of students receiving financial aid, as well as a comparison of the cost and overall score of the program to that of similar programs. “Students enrolled in Truett’s B.S. in Business (Management Accounting) online program not only get a great education but can also benefit from the affordability of our online program,” Wiegand said. “Students can receive a quality education without having to go into a great amount of debt to obtain a degree. This new ranking shows that our students can receive a solid degree from a college that has been acknowledged for academic excellence.”

Affordability isn’t the only aspect which sets Truett-McConnell’s online Business in Management Accounting program apart from other online programs. Students who study online with TMC receive a personalized education from professors who understand the importance of mentoring students and seek to best prepare students for their calling. “Many of our faculty members feel called to Truett-McConnell because of the focus of the college and desire to prepare students to fulfill the Great Commission. Our online faculty are no different – they understand the importance of mentoring and seek to make a difference in every student so our students leave Truett prepared for their calling.”

Similar to the structure of TMC’s residential degrees, online students will graduate with a Great Commission minor where they are taught to develop a love for the Lord, a love for His Word, a love for the lost, and a love for the local church. Each class is taught by a Christian professor and from a Biblical perspective. In the online accounting degree, professors emphasize the ethical application of business and accounting principles which the students study.

“We have experienced growth with the online classroom over the past five years and that can be seen in how we manage the program. Over the past six months we have hired two new employees in the online department to help manage the growth we are experiencing,” Wiegand said. “We are committed to pursuing academic excellence is every aspect of the online program even as we seek to grow the program, in both number of programs offered and student enrollment. This new ranking acknowledges our commitment to academic excellence and dedication to our students.”
