TMC SCHOLARSHIP GOLF TOURNAMENT 2008

When the snow and cold temperatures of winter are over, golfers look forward to those first warm days of spring so they can enjoy the fresh air and sunshine on the links of northeast Georgia.

This year Truett-McConnell College hosted its 13th Invitational Scholarship Golf Tournament on Tuesday, March 25, on The Woodlands Course at Château Élan in Braselton, GA.  A full field of 25 four-player teams enjoyed the day of good golf and even better fellowship.  Even though the early morning temperatures were cool, the brilliant Georgia sunshine soon raised the thermometer to a pleasant and comfortable level.

Check-in for the tournament began at 9:00 AM, and play got underway with a shotgun start at 10:30 AM.  Boxed lunches compliments of Chick-fil-A were delivered to the golfers on the course.

TMC’s Invitational Scholarship Golf Tournament is an event which benefits the college’s general scholarship fund.  This year’s tournament netted slightly over $14,000 for the general scholarship fund.  TMC awards academic, athletic, Georgia Baptist and need-based scholarships and grants.  Each full-time student is eligible for some institutional aid in addition to any federal and state aid available.

In the next issue of TMC News, details will be available about the 2009 golf tournament.  It will be held next spring at a local venue.  Alumni who are golfers are encouraged to make plans now to play.
