Cleveland, GA (December 14, 2010)- Mr. Kevin Harris, a political science aKevin Harrisdjunct professor at Truett-McConnell College, was named Executive Director for the Georgia Republican Party.

Harris started teaching at Truett-McConnell College at 1993 and in 2000; he opted to be an adjunct professor and went into economic politics full time. He began working with the Georgia Republican Party during the 2010 election cycle and was the political director for the Nathan Deal for Governor Campaign.

He has been involved with the Georgia Republican Party for about twenty years and is very excited about his new position.

“Working with the state GOP will be a great couple of years. It’s fun to meet people across the state of Georgia and develop relationships with them,” said Harris.

He hopes to encourage people with leadership, vision, and integrity. Harris also plans to make a difference in the community.

“It’s all about the community. You have to make a difference where you live. That is how you make a difference in the nation,” said Harris.

When asked about his faith intermixing with his position, he says that it is the cornerstone of everything.

“I personally believe God calls you into your field of ministry. It can be anything and I have been fortunate enough to work with TMC and public service. As Christians, we have a responsibility to integrate our faith into our daily lives and careers,” said Harris.

As far as the Georgia Republican party and the future of this country, Harris aims to focus on the communities and try to get competent people with integrity to represent communities.

Harris truly appreciates his relationship with TMC over the years. It was at TMC that he met his wife Melanie Harris, who worked in the admissions office. He also taught Sam Teasley, who was elected to state house this year, in his first class at TMC. Truett-McConnell congratulates Mr. Kevin Harris for this new position and anticipates seeing how God will use him.
