Cleveland, GA (October 11, 2010) –Rev. Charles R. Stillwell, retired pastor, donated 1,137 books from his personal library to the Truett-McConnell Library on Friday, October 8.
Rev. Stillwell decided to donate the books to Truett-McConnell College in remembrance of Dora Spiva, who attended Stillwell’s church when he pastored the Choestoe Baptist Church in Blairsville, GA. Truett-McConnell College launched the Dora Spiva Educational Campaign in 2007 in honor of Ms. Dora Spiva, a well known teacher in the North Georgia community. The numbers of donated materials from Rev. Charles Stillwell are 599 hardback books, 477 paperback books, 59 periodicals, and 2 media. Some of the books from his library also came from Jack Inland, a pastor for years. Dr. Mike Simoneaux, vice president for advancement services states, “the college deeply appreciates this wonderful gift by Rev. Stillwell. It is all the more special because it was given in memory of Ms. Dora Spiva, whose legacy is being preserved through TMC’s educational program.” Rev. Stillwell has been in the ministry for 48 years and has ministered in Missouri, Sarasota, Florida, and retired in July 2006 from Choestoe Baptist Church.
