Truett-McConnell College gains acceptance into NCCAA conference.

TRUETT-McCONNELL COLLEGE JOINS THE NCCAA

The Truett-McConnell College athletic department is pleased to announce that, in addition to its newly-acquired membership in NAIA, the college has also been granted membership in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA).

The NCCAA is an association of Christ-centered collegiate institutions which have a common mission of using athletic competition as an integral component of education, evangelism and encouragement.  The organization was founded in 1968 in Canton, Ohio, and supports a game plan of producing true winners, encouraging development of the student-athlete’s greatest potential in body, mind and spirit.

The NCCAA is committed to equipping student-athletes and coaches to make a positive impact for Christ, which coincidentally is exactly the mission statement of Truett-McConnell College.  This common mission further strengthens the newly-formed union between the college and the NCCAA.

TMC acting athletic director Jim Waits commented on the newly-acquired NCCAA membership:  “It is exciting to see the Lord working in the athletic department of Truett-McConnell College.  We have been blessed with acceptance into both the NAIA and the NCCAA and are excited about representing each of these organizations and the firm foundations for which they stand.  In particular, the acceptance into the NCCAA is exciting because we become part of an organization that has the same mission as our institution—to make a positive impact for Christ.”

The NCCAA is not new to some members of the TMC athletic department.  Both head softball coach Jenni Deitz and assistant baseball coach Trey Fowler were student-athletes at Piedmont College during Piedmont’s tenure in the NCCAA.  Coach Fowler had this to say about the NCCAA:  “The NCCAA is a wonderful organization which gives athletes the opportunity to represent Christ through competition in their various sports.  I had the opportunity to compete in two NCCAA World Series in my time at Piedmont, and I look back on those experiences as some of the best of my life.  I am excited that many TMC athletes will now have these opportunities, thanks to our membership in the NCCAA.  Membership in both the NAIA and the NCCAA gives Truett-McConnell athletes the luxury of having two roads to post-season play and national championship possibilities.”
