CLEVELAND, Ga – Dr. Johnny M. Hunt, Pastor of First Baptist Church Woodstock, author and former President of the Southern Baptist Convention, will speak at the 2017 commencement ceremony to be held on Saturday, May 13 at 10:00am.

Hunt’s educational credits include a BA in Religion from Gardner-Webb College where he was voted “Ministerial Student of the Year” in 1979. He continued onto Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary where he earned a Masters of Divinity in 1981. Southeastern honored Hunt in 1997 by naming The Chair of Biblical Preaching in his honor in 1997. He has also received several honorary Doctorates over the years for his work in ministry.

For 40 years, Hunt has answered the call to ministry with 30 of those years serving as Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church Woodstock in Woodstock, Ga.

Hunt has also published books including: Demolishing Strongholds, Building Your Leadership Resume along with children’s books and conference series materials.

“I know of no other pastor in America who has poured so much into this generation as Johnny Hunt,” said TMU President, Emir Caner. “How blessed our graduates will be to hear from this man of God who will share from his heart biblical wisdom that will encourage them as they celebrate such an accomplishment and prepare for future adventures.”

The May 13th commencement service is a ticketed event and will be held in TMU’s gymnasium. All guests must receive a ticket from a graduating senior and present a ticket for admittance upon entrance into the gym. Doors will open at 9 a.m.
