FITZGERALD GIVES CHALLENGE GIFT

A long-time supporter of Truett-McConnell College athletics, Rodney Fitzgerald, presented a generous gift to the college for use in the men’s basketball, women’s basketball and baseball programs. The gift was made on September 26, 2007, at a luncheon meeting in which Fitzgerald expressed again his great interest in TMC intercollegiate athletics.

Rodney Fitzgerald presents check to TMC Athletic Director David Elder

An employee of Truett-McConnell for 20 years, Fitzgerald served at various times as Director of Admissions, Director of Development, Director of Financial Aid, Dean of Students and full-time history faculty member. He rarely missed any sports event, many times traveling long distances to see his TMC teams play and cheer them on.

He was a valued recruiter for the TMC athletic teams because as he traveled around the state in his position with the admissions office, he reported to the TMC coaches the names of good athletic prospects he had met or heard about.

In making the gift to TMC athletics, Rodney Fitzgerald issued a challenge to any former Truett-McConnell student or employee who was involved with the intercollegiate athletic program as a coach, player or spectator to “step up to the plate” and make his/her own gift to the TMC athletic program. Checks may be made to Truett-McConnell College; contributions are tax-deductible.

Gifts may be designated for the entire athletic program or for a particular sport or sports.
