CLEVELAND, Ga. (TMCSports)–Truett McConnell’s Lady Bears softball team used productive hitting and watchful eyes on the pitches served up by the Lions of Bryan College to sweep the visiting team in a doubleheader, March 27.CaitlynatHomeRightfielder Caitlyn Hogg tags home plate and clears the baseline for the next scoring run.                                                                                                   Photo / Norm Miller

Game one ended at 4-3 in six innings. The Lady Bears’ bats came alive in the second game, and they caged the opposition early at the end of five innings, pouncing on the Lions, 11-3.

This puts the team on a 3-game winning streak as they enter the SSAC Crossover Tournament this weekend in Columbus, Ga.

“We’ve been battling hard in several recent games, but haven’t been able to win,” said Head Coach Jenni Shephard. “It’s been nice to get these three wins in a row, and we want to carry that momentum into this weekend’s tourney.”

The SSAC will host the tourney at the South Commons Softball Complex, March 29-31. All 13 SSAC teams will compete, and games count toward conference records.
