Amy Goins
Class of 1988
Amy Goins, a native of Marietta, GA, attended Truett-McConnell College from 1986 to 1988, graduating with an Associate in Music degree. After TMC, Amy continued her education by receiving a full music scholarship to Columbus College, Columbus, GA. She graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor of Music Education degree.
Her professional teaching career has included teaching in the public school system of Habersham County and teaching/administration at Cumberland Christian Academy in Marietta.
One of Amy’s passions—singing and songwriting—has taken her to places she never dreamed would be possible. In 1999 she moved to Nashville, TN, where she honed her craft of songwriting and learned the music business by working in the marketing department of Forefront Records.
In 2003, desiring to be closer to home, she moved back to metro Atlanta. It was at this time that she, with two close friends, formed the singing group Beloved (www.belovedga.com). As one of the two primary songwriters for the group, Amy has been able to use her skill and passion for writing songs in a fulfilling way. Since their beginning in 2003, Beloved has released three CDs, performed for audiences in cities all across the country and secured national television and radio appearances, as well as conducting their own women’s retreat each year.
Amy comments about her experience at Truett-McConnell: “My memories of TMC are some of the best of my life. The friends, the teachers, the spiritual growth, the academic classes, BSU…all of those experiences helped shape who I am today. I look at my life now and see how those two years formed a solid foundation for all that was to come later in my life. I am so glad and proud that I chose to begin my educational career—and really my life as an adult—at Truett-McConnell. I wouldn’t want it any other way.”
Amy resides now in Cumming, GA. She would love to hear from any old friends; just e-mail her at amyjillgoins@yahoo.com.
