Biography

Dr. Holly Haynes is Associate Professor of Behavioral Sciences and Dean of the Leonhard Schiemer School of Psychology and Biblical Counseling at Truett McConnell University (TMU).  Prior to serving at TMU, Haynes served as a charter faculty member at Georgia Gwinnett College where she was instrumental in developing the undergraduate Psychology program. In addition to her administrative work with the Psychology program, Haynes teaches courses in education, human development, and community psychology. Haynes has developed relationships with various ministries in Clarkston, Gainesville, and Cleveland, Georgia, where she most recently assisted in the creation of the Young Scholars Program in the Cleveland. Haynes completed her Bachelor’s degree in History and Science at Harvard College and went on to complete master’s and doctorate degrees at Harvard University in Human Development and Psychology. She has taught at various colleges and universities including Harvard College, California State University at Long Beach, and Loyola Marymount University. She has been involved in research with Boston’s Children’s Hospital, the California Endowment, and Harvard University. Her past research focused on in childhood trauma, mothers and mothering, and creativity. Haynes’s most current research focuses on culture and identity, specifically, “gender, culture, and creativity.”  She enjoys spending free time with her husband, Phillip, and three children, Judah, Jacob, and James.
