The School of Psychology and Biblical Counseling offers four Master’s degrees:
- Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling
- Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with Sports Psychology
- Master of Arts in Global Mental Health Counseling
- Master of Arts in Global Mental Health Counseling with Sports Psychology
Applicants for any of the above Master’s degrees should meet and/or submit the following minimum requirements for full admission to the graduate program:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Applicants will be required to submit official college transcripts. GPA requirement of at least 3.0.
- Official application for admission: Apply online
- A current resumé
- A two-page personal statement essay describing:
- Why the applicant wants to become a biblical counselor
- Personal testimony detailing when and how the applicant came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior
- Reasons for obtaining a Master’s degree
- Why the applicant wants to pursue graduate studies with TMU over another institution
- Future professional goals
- Professional recommendations
- Two professional references are required from persons other than relatives who have known the applicant personally for at least two years.
- The references should communicate the applicants’ qualifications and professional attributes.
- The recommenders should describe in what capacity they know the applicant.
- Background check: Per request of the School of Psychology, each applicant must register for a background check to be sent to admissions@truett.edu. A $20 fee will apply. A link for the background check will be sent by the Office of Admissions after the above documents are submitted.
- Interview: Applicants will complete a virtual group interview with the School of Psychology Faculty that will take place after all documents are submitted for review and after the admissions deadline has passed. The date and time for the interview will be determined by the School of Psychology faculty.
