Perhaps every semester has ended with me saying that it was the best one yet, and the competition between spring semester of this year and this fall is a tight one, but really, this fall has been such a blessing. As coursework got heavier, the events offered by Student Life provided a way to unwind and enjoy fellowship!
ABIDE Nights: The ABIDE Nights held at the start of the semester were such a wonderful gift. As we eased our way back into the swing of the semester, I was grateful for the evenings of getting to visit with friends, burn a s’more (or two), and play a little bit of football.
Small Groups: My small group was such a delight. We had such a sweet time of fellowship and prayer over one another as we studied through the book of Philippians. Mine was led by two precious ladies whose love for the Lord is clear – the cherry on top was that I served on staff at a camp with one! Through time in God’s word together, we grew closer in our walks with the Lord and our relationships with each other. What a gift it has been to be able to pray over them and what they were walking through and know that there was a group of girls praying over me.
Line Dancing Classes & The Hoedown: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – the Hoedown and the classes leading up to it are by far my favorite Student Life Event. Dearly loved and greatly treasured former TMU staff members return to do a month of weekly lessons leading up to the Hoedown and they do a last-minute review on the dance floor on the night of the event. It’s a night of great fun, good music, and lots of laughter as we have the opportunity to put school behind and enjoy being together!
Musical Performances: This year’s concerts from the School of Music have been phenomenal. Seeing the hard work and dedication that the students and faculty have put in has been such a pleasure, and there have been countless opportunities to go and hear them use their gifts! From string concerts to senior recitals to the Chorale Fall Concert, the School of Music brought a variety of genres for audiences to enjoy.
All in all, this fall has been a wonderful season. Whether it was the joy of ABIDE Nights, the depth of small group connections, or the fun of line dancing and musical performances, each experience has contributed to making this fall a memorable one. Making new friends and growing in old friendships has been my favorite part, and I am oh-so-thankful for how Student Life has helped facilitate the building of those relationships.
