This week, Truett McConnell University (TMU) hosted its second Education Recruitment Day for the Walpot School of Education. The event brought 29 prospective students from Lumpkin County High School’s “Teaching as a Profession” pathway group. Attendees were provided opportunities to learn best education practices from current students and professors, tour the campus, and learn more about TMU’s programs and curriculum.
The event was designed to showcase the unique aspects of TMU’s School of Education and highlight the benefits of pursuing a degree in the education field. Currently, all TMU education graduates, who are actively pursuing a teaching position, are being offered employment upon graduation. This 100% rate has been a significant draw for those interested in pursuing a career in education.
“This outstanding acceptance rate has attracted prospective students to see why TMU is a viable choice for a degree. Plus, the students see and hear about university life in the North Georgia mountains,” said Dr. Julie Lutz, Dean and Associate Professor for the Peter and Gredel Walpot School of Education.
“One of the best parts of the experience was seeing prospective students interacting with current students to hear first-hand what the TMU School of Education has to offer,” Lutz added.
