John Yarbrough is Director of Alumni & Public Policy, Associate Professor of Christian Studies at Truett-McConnell College. He works with alumni in building networks of relationships with the college and with one another, representing the college and working to advance public policies in the community, state and nation that will protect and enhance the free exercise of faith in the culture. He also teaches in the Master’s program in the areas of practice application, evangelism and Christian ethics.

His sermons have been published on various sermon websites, he is a charter author for Sermon City and his sermons have been published, in numerous periodicals and books. He is a contributing author to Vision Leadership for Church Growth, Knowing Peace in Troubled Times and Sermons on Hell.

He has articles published in numerous magazine and professional journals including Evangelism Today,The Church Growth Journal, On Mission, Outreach, and others.

Biography

John Yarbrough was licensed to the Gospel Ministry in 1966 and has pastored churches since 1972 including Tabernacle Baptist Church of Cartersville,Georgia and First Baptist Church of Perry, Georgia. He served as Vice-President for Evangelism at the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention from 1997 – 2006.

John has been recognized as a leader at every level of his denomination and convention including chairing the committee that restructured the Southern Baptist Convention in 1997, serving as President of the Georgia Baptist Convention and serving on the executive committees of Baptist Associations, the State Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention. His service on denominational, city, civic and community committees/boards over the past 50 years are too numerous to list.

His passion to see people follow Jesus Christ has allowed him to teach or preached in major conferences in 48 states, 7 seminaries, 6 college and 7 countries. His love for the local church is evident in the more than 800 churches where he has spoken.

He leads conferences for churches, associations, conventions, ministries and small businesses on leadership, planning and structure. He preaches in churches, conferences and crusades biblically based messages on evangelism, spiritual awakening, the Christian life and church vs culture issues

John and his wife Diana live in Cleveland, Ga. The couple has two grown married children and four grandchildren.
