Duo Catanza Concert
Mar 4 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Dazzling audiences around the globe, Duo Catanza combine the guitar skills of Scott Plato and Matthias Young. Originally teacher and student, respectfully, the duo has been hailed by critics as “Delightful!” and “Amazing!” Christina Martinez of WTSP-TV in Tampa Bay, FL said, “Who knew the strings could sound that dreamy?”
Scott Plato earned his Bachelor of Music from Georgia State University under the direction of John Sutherland (a protégé of the guitar virtuoso, Andrés Segovia), and a Master of Music from Adams State University. Maintaining a busy teaching schedule, he founded the guitar department at Gainesville College, and is the Head of Guitar Studies at Gordon State College. His publications include audio recordings, books, and written compositions.
Matthias Young, also a student of John Sutherland, studied at Berry College, Georgia State University, and Boston University. He is the Director of Music at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church in Atlanta and teaches guitar at Truett McConnell University. An avid teacher, he founded the guitar program at the Mount Vernon School in Atlanta. He’s also published several books, audio recordings, compositions, as well as articles for guitar journals and magazines.
Duo Catanza released their first album in the Fall of 2020: Vivaldi: Concerto in D Major, RV 93, and is available through Apple Music, Spotify, and other digital platforms, as well as on CD
