The annual TMU Singing Competition is here again! If you love to sing and perform, sign up to compete for the $200 first place prize and $100 second place prize! Contestants can perform as solo artists or in a group.
Please sign-up in the Office of Student Development by Friday, January 27th if you are interested in participating.
TMU Singing Competition
Round 1- Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 8:30pm, Sewell-Plunkett Chapel
Round 2- Monday, February 6, 2017 at 8:30pm, Sewell-Plunkett Chapel
Round 3- Monday, February 13, 2017 at 8:30pm, Sewell-Plunkett Chapel
Round 4- Monday, February 20, 2017 at 8:30pm, Sewell-Plunkett Chapel
Below are the policy and rules for the competition:
Competition Policies
- Any TMU student or group of students must register songs and singer(s) prior to event.
- Songs will not be allowed if they are in contradiction to the standards of the college.
- Singer(s) performance will be no longer than 3 minutes
- Songs with tracks must be turned in to Chanda Bell by 4:00pm on the day of the event and must be compatible with Apple and I-Tunes.
Night 1
- Each registered singer and group will perform one song.
- Order will be chosen at random, unless extenuating circumstances arise.
- 4 judges made up of faculty and staff will decide who moves on to Day 2.
- Judges will grade the performances on the following areas:
- Sound- do you sound good?
- Stage Presence- how comfortable are you on stage?
- Entertaining- does the crowd like you?
Night 2 and 3
- Remaining singers/groups perform one song of their choice
- Judges will grade the performances on the following areas:
- Sound- do you sound good?
- Stage Presence- how comfortable are you on stage?
- Entertaining- does the crowd like you?
Night 4
- Remaining singers/groups will perform two songs
- One song of their choice
- One song of the judge’s choice
- The crowd, via paper ballot, will choose the final winner.
- The winning singer/group will receive $200, and the second place singer/group will receive $100.
