Former Student Returns to Teach at Truett

Dr. Tammy Mize

Cleveland, GA (September 28, 2010)- As a native of White County, Dr. Tammy Mize is excited to teach at Truett McConnell College where she first began her post secondary education.  She is currently serving as an associate professor of education and Truett-McConnell College is excited to have her as part of the faculty.

Dr. Mize completed her associate’s degree at Truett-McConnell College and then went on to receive her bachelor’s and master’s degree at North Georgia College and State University, a specialist degree from Lincoln Memorial University, and a doctorate from Nova Southeastern University. She began her teaching career in the White County School System where she served as a science teacher in the middle school and later, as a coach and teacher in the high school. Dr. Mize would go on to serve as the assistant principal at the high school, the director of personnel and planning for the school system, as well as the assistant superintendent.

In the summer of 2007, she joined the Forsyth County School System as director of human resources where she continued to serve until her retirement in August 2010. Dr. Mize has served for 30 years in public education in White and Forsyth counties. In addition, she has been an adjunct professor for Kennesaw State University, North Georgia College and State University, and Truett McConnell College.

In her spare time, Dr. Mize enjoys spending time with her husband, Gerald, and taking walks with her cat, Grayson.
