TMC Welcomes Professor of Missions

Cleveland, GA (October 11, 2010) - Truett-McConnell College is excited to welcome Dr. William (Bill) Cashion to our campus faculty. Dr. Cashion is a visiting professor of missions and Truett-McConnell is eager to see how God will use him on our campus.

Dr. Cashion received his bachelor’s degree at Charleston Southern University in 1971 and then went on to complete a Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1974. He also received a Spanish Language Diploma from the Spanish Language Institute in 1986 and then completed a doctorate of ministry in Missiology from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in 1997.

Dr. Bill Cashion is no stranger to the mission field. He has had numerous ministry experiences throughout his life and has traveled to various countries. He began his pastoral ministry at New Hill Baptist Church from 1972-1976.  He then went on to pastor Carolina Pines Baptist Church and later on, Washington Baptist Church.  After ministering in these three churches, Dr. Cashion studied at the Spanish Language Institute in San Jose, Costa Rica.  While in language school, he and his wife started a relief ministry and planted churches in refugee camps for Nicaraguans in Costa Rica and after two years in Costa Rica, the Cashions began service as missionaries in Caracas, Venezuela. After almost ten years in Venezuela, Dr. Cashion joined the staff at the International Mission Board as the World Hunger Consultant from 1996 - 1998. Afterward, in 1998-2004, he served as the director of the Volunteers in Missions Department. Dr. Cashion presently serves as senior pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Clarkesville, GA.

Dr. Bill Cashion is married to his wife Kathryn. They have three daughters: Amy, Missy, and Katie. He strives to live by his personal statement, that is, “to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and love Him, and to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the Lord’s commandments (Deut. 10:12-13) and in doing so to be a disciple of Christ who will never allow my world to be smaller than the one Jesus died to save.”

The mission of Truett-McConnell College is to equip students to make a positive impact for Christ through disciplined scholarship and Christian discipleship. For more information about Truett-McConnell College call 706-865-2134 or visit us online at www.truett.edu
