Position: Full-time staff position

Summary: The successful candidate will be an active Christian who will act to oversee and ensure institution compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations applicable to all research and teaching activities involving animal and human subjects. The CLSO will also oversee the institution's biosaftey program to ensure proper usage, storage, and disposal of all biohazardous, chemical hazardous and radioactive materials. Additionally, the CLSO will provide support services to all academic and research laboratories.

Individuals with an advanced biology/science background (Master's Degree preferred) will also have responsibility to direct student conduct in the Division of Science and Mathematics' laboratory curriculum in the areas of biology, chemistry, and/or physical science.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The CLSO will work closely with academic divisions that routinely partake in teaching and research activities that involve animal and human subjects (primarily the Division of Science and Mathematics). The CLSO's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Maintain and update all institutional compliance policies and forms
• Oversee the compliance application and review process
• Oversee laboratory hygiene, sanitation, and safety practices
• Administer periodic reviews of all campus research and laboratory spaces
• Maintain and update laboratory inventory and supply lists
• Order laboratory and research supplies and equipment
• Supervise up to three (3) laboratory periods per semester in the institution's biology, chemistry, and/or physical sciences laboratory curriculum

• College degree required; proficiency in science or mathematics highly preferred (Master's Degree)
• Computer skills required – working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software
• Good interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to understand technical manuals and terminology
