Assistant Varsity & Head JV Softball Coach
Position: Salaried, Part-Time Position
Salary: $24,000 per year
Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelor's degree, experience playing intercollegiate softball, and preferably two years of coaching experience on the collegiate level. A successful candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic and a high level of integrity and honesty. Candidates must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, must be attentive to detail and accurate in record keeping and possess an ability to work with a diverse constituency including students, parents, coaches, faculty, staff administrators and outside contacts. The individual filling this position must be an active Christian, fully supportive of the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 (http://www.sbc.net/bfm/bfm2000.asp) and the goals and objectives of the institution. The successful candidate must teach and coach from a Christian Worldview and set a Christian example for students.
Responsibilities: Assist head coach with all aspects of coaching softball, including: hitting, infield/outfield, defensive and offensive drills, base running, etc. Collaborate with head coach on practice plan and implementation. Ability to emphasize pitching and/or hitting preferred. Assist in monitoring academic progress of student-athletes; manage progress reports and study halls; assist in scheduling and coordinating bi-weekly team bible study; and coordinating team community service projects. Actively recruit players to attend Truett for Varsity and JV Roster, by attending showcases, high school games, travel ball tournaments and communicate with recruits via telephone and email. Coordinate on-campus tours and workouts of recruits. Create and manage strength training program and conditioning workouts. Help prepare the field for practice and games. Assist head coach in various administrative duties as needed.
